When I moved to L.A. in 2005 after living off the radar in Mexico for several years, I was fascinated and horrified by the daily flood of consumer enticement I received in the mail.
With this collage series, I make clippings of objects in the free weekly circular ads (i.e. pizza, linens, electronics etc.) and I then morph them into mutant specimens of quotidian waste.
These collages are vertically or horizontally displayed in 12″ x 16″ Riker Mounts, also known as “Butterfly Boxes.”
